Miracle girl

Berlin, June 1943

Marion, June 1943 in Berlin

At the occasion of her 80th birthday on 30 October 2021 we are honoured to publish this charming picture of Marion Lubina-Liebig… OMArion as she is called today by her grandchildren. The picture was shot in the spring of 1943, location: Berlin. A small miracle, now a big miracle – a Jewish girl born in Berlin in October 1941 survives Nazi barbarism. Defiantly she looks into the camera, not knowing that Jewish girls like her from all over Europe are being murdered at that very same moment. At the time her family name was Ammoser, the name of her non-Jewish and non-biological father who protected mother and child until Hitler was dead. OMArion now lives in Berlin-Teptow and makes a daily bicycle ride. Do read her own story, published on this website.
